darkroom information

Our traditional darkrooms...

...consist of equipment and chemistry to process and print black and white films and papers. There are 13 35mm enlargers and 3 4x5 enlargers with a mix of color heads, cold light heads, and condenser heads.

There are archival film washers, film dryers, and print dryers.

We also have photo paper easels, lenses, negative carriers, grain magnifiers, cc filters. Anyone using the facility needs to provide their own paper.

Use of the lab is free to students and $8.00 per hour to guests. Hours of availability are posted on the lab door as well as this website, and are typically every Monday 5:30 to 10:00 pm, and every Saturday 12 noon to 5:00 pm. Open labs are staffed by knowlegable volunteers.

Our digital side...
...consists of 9 iMac computers running OSX and Photoshop CS2, 7 inkjet printers and 1 flatbed/slide scanner plus a 4x5 film scanner.
Other facilities...
Lockers can be rented at $2 per month (or $20 per year) to hold personal items (eg you can leave some paper or other personal darkroom aids at the lab). See lab attendant for more information.
